The saying le Soleil & l’homme engendrent introduces generation through the conjunction of an internal capacity with activating heat. Its compressed gloss then names the terrestrial sun as gold and repeats l’homme, l’homme without supplying a further explanation. The new English retains that repetition. The reader should not complete the phrase by inventing an unprinted material or a second symbolic identification. The subsequent argument is clearer: solar heat brings innate heat into actuality, lunar influence fosters radical moisture, and a temperate cooperation of contrary fire and water makes generation possible. The obscure formula belongs within that argument, not in a free-standing code of ingredients.
