Perseian epithet of Hekate

Meaning

The printed accusative Πέρσειαν characterizes Hekate in the opening hymn (I.4). A connection with Perses is plausible, but the supplied form does not by itself settle a reconstructed nominative. The apparatus attributes Πέρσειαν to Hermann and reports περσίαν. Neither the variant nor the English “Perseia” warrants replacing the source with a plant-name or a different patronymic formation.
