English renderings
tilt aside; turn out of balance

Meaning

Those condemned by Dikaiosyne have greedily tilted judgment aside, using the heavy scale-pans (LXIII.7). The dative πλάστιγξι expresses the instrument rather than an accusative object. The verb gives unfair dealing a physical image of disturbed balance. The accompanying greed and the hymn’s rejection of a larger share make the deviation morally charged, not a neutral change of direction.
