Night-gleaming

Meaning

Night and the Moon can be night-gleaming, but III.14 also asks for night-gleaming fears to be sent away. Meilinoe’s manifestation alternates between visible, dark, and night-gleaming at LXXI.8. Luminosity at night is therefore not necessarily beneficent; its value depends on the being or experience described. At IX.6 the reported νυχία would express nocturnal character without the adopted gleaming element.
