English renderings
Circle; circuit

Meaning

Ocean washes around the earth’s bounding κύκλος at LXXXIII.3, where the noun marks an encompassing boundary. In the appended Ares hymn, LXXXVIII.6, it is instead a fire-bright circuit that the god wheels. The second belongs to the appended hymn and should not silently determine the physical picture in the Ocean passage.
