Circling; recurrent

Meaning

The Graces are called κυκλάδες at LX.10, whereas the dative κυκλάσιν qualifies seasons in the Dionysos and Adonis hymns. The first can evoke circling movement; the seasonal uses express recurrence, including Adonis’s alternation between extinction and shining. Circular dance and recurring time meet in the imagery but are not grammatically the same object.
