English renderings
nurturing the young

Meaning

Hecate, Artemis, and Demeter nurture the young, and Peace receives the same active epithet. Its application to Peace is especially useful: safe social conditions can foster children without Peace being narrated as their biological mother. Demeter can be both young-nurturing and maiden in one line, so the title should not be turned into an exclusive life-stage classification.
