English renderings
horn-bearing

Meaning

The Moon and Dionysus both bear horns in IX.9 and LIII.8. The surrounding figure determines how the epithet is imagined; recurrence alone does not make lunar horns and Dionysian hornedness identical. In IX the apparatus reports a fulfilment-bearing epithet and separately queries a radiance-bearing one. The query is not an adopted reading or another verified manuscript variant.
