Meaning
Nereus’ fifty daughters are associated with καλλίτεκνοι dances at XXIII.3. Grammatically the adjective qualifies the dances, so the beauty of offspring colours the whole dancing company. Rendering it simply as a direct adjective of Nereus would lose the local construction.
