Meaning

The predicates carry the main distinctions: Semele is asked to remain kindly disposed toward initiates; chthonic Hermes is an escort of souls; Death is common to all yet unjust to some. At LXXXVII.2 Death is far from those granted a span of life. None of these uses requires an abstract theory of being to explain this ordinary verb.
