deep; extensive

Meaning

Poseidon receives the deep stream of the sea at XVII.7, while Boreas shakes the deep air of the cosmos at LXXX.1. Depth can therefore measure an extensive expanse as well as water below a surface. The atmospheric use should not be translated as though Boreas were shaking a liquid sea.
