Meaning
Demeter sends forth a desirable, prosperous livelihood for mortals at XL.9, while Ares is asked to release heart-paining toil at LXV.6. The first is generative provision; the second is a letting-up of hardship. The shared release-image should not turn Demeter’s gift of life into abandonment of it.
