Meaning
Kathodos is descent. In accounts of soul it concerns movement toward a lower domain or bodily association, not necessarily spatial travel in an ordinary physical sense.
Use in the book
The survey connects different descents with prior creative allotments and the recipients assigned to souls. Other passages distinguish voluntary administration, obedience, training, and punishment. Descent must therefore be explained through its source, destination, and purpose rather than treated as one uniform fall.
