II.PREFACE · The Corruption and Anatomy of Things

German & Latin

1723 pp 213–214

The Golden Chain of Homer: II.PREFACE · The Corruption and Anatomy of Things

1723 pp 213–214

Just as the first part treats the generation of things in general and universally, so the following second part describes the corruption of things in general and universally. From it, everyone can undertake particular investigations of their own. I give it here as I have practised it with my own hands. If anyone seeks and finds benefit in it, let them thank the giver of all gifts, rather than me. Along with what has already been said, let them strive always to practise the highest commandment, love of one's neighbour, without doing injury to friend or enemy. I have not worked this out by myself or from my own resources. I received it from the Most High and the holy watchers whom he continually sends forth. I therefore bring it to light again as my inherited talent, for the person whose hope is sincere and earnest. Let that person try their fortune in it.
