German

Ecce vides illum, qui de Cœlo descendit, & quem jam terra producit, ☉ Pater, Luna Mater, ventus portavit in ventre, jam terra nutrix ejus facta est, & est ille, uti Propheta Esaias in similitudine inquit: Rorate Cœli desuper & nubes pluite justum, aperiatur terra & germinet Salvatorem ejus. Item Salvator noster, inquiens: Non vivit homo solo pane, sed quolibet verbo egrediente ex ore Altissimi. Item Ille: Vos estis Sal terræ. Item: Paulus Philosophus Corinth. 15. Seminatur & decidit corruptibile sive volatile, & resurgit sive oritur incorruptibile sive fixum.

English

“Look: you see that which descended from heaven and which the earth now brings forth. The Sun is its father, the Moon its mother; the wind carried it in its belly, and the earth has now become its nurse. It is that of which the prophet Isaiah speaks by similitude: ‘Drop dew from above, O heavens, and let the clouds rain the just one; let the earth open and bring forth its Saviour.’ Likewise our Saviour says, ‘Man does not live by bread alone, but by every word proceeding from the mouth of the Most High’; and again, ‘You are the salt of the earth.’ Likewise Paul the philosopher, in 1 Corinthians 15: ‘It is sown and falls corruptible, or volatile, and rises again, or springs up, incorruptible, or fixed.’ This Universal Secret, or Spirit of the World, is in all things and is their life, as it is the life of the human being. According to Dorn, it is nothing other than tinctured spirit of salt, or fixed crystalline salt: the lower which is like the upper. Heaven itself is fixed crystalline, frozen water; otherwise it could not withstand the stars, or fire. For this reason the bodies of the damned will not and cannot burn away.”

About This Reading Edition
