Part II — Conclusion

German & Latin

237–238

Alldieweilen ich mich aber (so viel das Erste und Andere anbelangt) erinnere / welcher gestalt der Mensch nach Gottes Ebenbild und Gleichnuß geschaffen / und daß solch Bild und Gleichnuß oberwehnter massen / in imitatione DEI bestehe. Dahero und gleich wie GOtt der Allerhöchste uns ohne Unterschied alles Gutes mittheilet; Also seynd wir wiederumb unserm Nächsten damit zu dienen / bevorab aber dardurch seines H. Nahmens Lob / Ehr und Preiß zu befördern und außzubreiten schuldig; Derowegen ich mich ebenmässig verbunden erachtet / GOTT meinem HERRN und Schöpffer dergestalt das jenige / was ich von Seiner Göttlichen Güte empfangen / wiederumb auffzuopffern / und die Hermetische Kunst und Warheit zu vertheidigen;

Candida Phoenix Philosophica: Part II — Conclusion

237–238

As regards the first and second objections, however, I remember that humankind was created in God’s image and likeness, and that this image and likeness consist, as explained above, in imitating God. Just as God Most High shares every good thing with us without distinction, so we are obliged to serve our neighbour with those gifts, and above all to advance and spread the praise, honour, and glory of his holy name. I therefore considered myself equally bound to offer back to God, my Lord and Creator, what I received from his divine goodness, and to defend the Hermetic art and truth.
