Part II — Chapter 13: The Controversy Over Light
German & Latin
219–220Dixi nullam contrarietatem in se recipere, à proprietate nimirum: Nam attestante D. de Nuysement, Substantia hanc habet proprietatem, ut nullam contrarietatem in se recipiat, alias etiam per artem pura & à corruptione libera reddi haud posset, prout tamen quotidiè in arte nostra videmus, & gratia DEI ipse scio, & in praxi observavi, quod Mercurius noster nihil in se recipiat, quam quod suæ sit essentiæ homogeneum.
Candida Phoenix Philosophica: Part II — Chapter 13: The Controversy Over Light
219–220I said that it admits no contrariety into itself, referring to its property. As de Nuysement attests, substance has this property of admitting no contrariety; otherwise the Art could not render it pure and free from corruption. Yet we see this daily in our Art. By God’s grace I myself know and have observed in practice that our Mercury receives into itself only what is homogeneous with its own essence.
