188–189

Thus, as to the third part of the question, anyone who pursues this often-mentioned Art should possess not only a subtle intelligence, according to the frequently cited Son of Sendivogius, but also a patient and steadfast disposition. He must not let sophistry, fraud, or idle talk unsettle him—such talk as “This man or that spent thirty or forty years on it, another fifty, and expended a great deal without achieving anything.” Nor should vexation make him abandon the Work and relinquish his purpose prematurely.
