At a Glance
The word. A skin-like covering described in infants.
In the book. Nasda and Nodi identify other bodily changes through location.
A place to read. The historical definition below, 1650 dictionary, unnumbered definition page 35; facsimile PDF page 363.
Historical Definition
Neutha, or Neuta, is a little skin growing over the ears or eyes of infants, and sometimes covering the whole body.
Meaning
The definition includes a range of extent. The covering may involve the ears or eyes, or may extend over the entire body. It does not explain its origin or give enough clinical detail to determine a single modern condition.
Use in the Book
Nasda and Nodi identify other bodily changes through location. Here infancy and the description as a little skin are additional marks which should not be lost in a generic paraphrase such as growth.
Places to Read
Nasda. Two names for a bodily lump located in the back.
Nodi. Hard swellings distinguished by their location at the joints.
