At a Glance
The word. A red kind of Manna reported in an Irish setting.
In the book. Manna itself includes an aerial dew as well as sweet extracted material.
A place to read. The historical definition below, 1650 dictionary, unnumbered definition page 35; facsimile PDF page 363.
Historical Definition
Nuba is a kind of red Manna that falls in Ireland.
Meaning
The definition qualifies Manna by colour and place, and says that it falls. It does not identify a plant source, an extraction or a particular season. Those details should not be invented from the wider range of things called Manna.
Use in the Book
Manna itself includes an aerial dew as well as sweet extracted material. Nuba belongs to a more particular account within that vocabulary. Melissa, by contrast, explicitly names an herbal extraction.
Places to Read
Manna. An aerial dew and, more broadly, sweet extracted matter.
Melissa. An alchemical use of Melissa for an herbal extraction.
