Historical Definition
Coruscus is mouse-ear.
Meaning
The definition is a short identification by a common plant name. It provides neither a description of the plant nor a distinction among plants that another historical author might call mouse-ear. Preserve the common name when a more precise identification has not been established.
Use in the Book
Dracunculus is glossed as adder’s-tongue, another common plant name drawing on an animal comparison. The dictionary preserves such names as aids to recognition. It does not give the descriptive evidence needed to settle every modern botanical identification under Coruscus.
