At a Glance
The word. A mercurial term qualified through gold.
In the book. Discus solis gives Quicksilver made from gold, while Flos cheiri is the essence of gold.
A place to read. The historical definition below, 1650 dictionary, unnumbered definition page 25; facsimile PDF page 353.
Historical Definition
Horion is the Mercury of gold.
Meaning
The gold relation is the distinguishing feature. The definition does not say simply Mercury, and it supplies no process by which the named subject is obtained. Its wording should remain relational rather than being converted into a modern composition.
Use in the Book
Discus solis gives Quicksilver made from gold, while Flos cheiri is the essence of gold. These entries show different ways a preparation or attributed efficacy can be named through the same metal. The dictionary does not explicitly declare every mercurial or essential gold term identical.
Places to Read
Discus solis. Quicksilver described through a claimed origin in gold.
Flos cheiri. A name for an essence associated with gold.
