At a Glance
The word. A Paracelsian Mumia compound equated with Manna.
In the book. Manna itself includes an aerial dew and sweet matter extracted from things.
A place to read. The historical definition below, 1650 dictionary, unnumbered definition page 34; facsimile PDF page 362.
Historical Definition
Mumia transmarina in Paracelsus is Manna.
Meaning
The dictionary’s equivalent should govern the reading before an ordinary interpretation of transmarina as something from overseas is allowed to supply a material. The entry says Manna and attributes this usage to Paracelsus.
Use in the Book
Manna itself includes an aerial dew and sweet matter extracted from things. Melissa selects an herbal form of that extracted material. The short Mumia compound does not choose among all those further qualifications on its own.
Places to Read
Manna. An aerial dew and, more broadly, sweet extracted matter.
Melissa. An alchemical use of Melissa for an herbal extraction.
