At a Glance

In the book. Compare Lac Virginis, whose milky name is assigned to mercurial water.
A place to read. The historical definition below, 1650 dictionary, unnumbered definition page 30; facsimile PDF page 358.
Historical Definition
Lustrum is the cream of milk.
Meaning
The dictionary identifies the particular portion of milk intended. It does not use the headword here for a span of years or a ceremonial act, meanings that a reader might bring from another context. The material equivalent is the whole local explanation.
Use in the Book
Compare Lac Virginis, whose milky name is assigned to mercurial water. One entry actually concerns a dairy substance; the other employs milk-language for a different material. Similar naming does not establish a shared source.
Places to Read
Lac Virginis. Virgin’s milk as a name for mercurial water.
