Meaning
Telepathy names an alleged communication between minds beyond ordinary sensory transmission. Thought transference is a related label in the source's classification of psychic phenomena.
Use in the book
IX proposes a vibratory account: thought, emotion, reason, will, and desire are said to emit vibrations capable of inducing states in other minds. The musical-instrument analogy makes the reproduction of a mental state seem like the reproduction of a tone.
XIV gives the same claim a generative image. A masculine principle projects energy into another person's feminine principle, where a seed-thought grows. Telepathy, suggestion, and hypnotism are then discussed together.

Telepathy and thought transference are retained as source labels. Their presence in a taxonomy is not reported as independent verification.
Reading the argument
The analogy describes how the author wants the process understood; it does not demonstrate that transmission occurs. The chapter gives no controlled procedure distinguishing the asserted effect from ordinary communication, shared circumstances, or expectation.
