To remember and weigh in Part I: entrance and preparation · unit 5 is to form a deliberate resolve about secrecy and use. The practitioner must consider not revealing the secret to the unworthy, not sharing its benefit improperly and not seeking personal glory. The passage then asks him to remember the threatened divine punishment for transgression. 'Weigh' is therefore reflective judgment, not measurement on a balance. The English's 'carefully weigh this resolve' keeps the action tied to commitment. This ethical weighing is part of preparation for the art, and the severity of the warning belongs to the author's account of responsibility for a divine gift.
