Meaning

Magistery is the elevated art or mastery about which the introduction's reputed philosophers are said to have written truthfully. In Opening explanation · unit 7 it is supported by knowledge drawn from Nature's foundation and wellspring, then contrasted with pseudo-philosophers who misuse those writings as a cover. The English retains the learned noun rather than reducing it to either a schoolteacher's office or a particular chemical product. Its force is honorific and comprehensive here: it denotes the high work and knowledge whose authority fraudsters falsely claim.
