The First Response warns that misuse of the tincture and impure conduct cause loss of the attained happiness. The guide may turn away, and the possessor has little hope of awakening the gift again. “Little hope” is not an absolute declaration of impossibility; the modality should be preserved. Reawakening is figurative language for recovering the lost benefit, not a supplied recovery procedure. The surrounding instructions to receive only what the guide gives, refrain from display and possess as though possessing nothing make restrained use central. The English keeps the warning tied to conduct rather than treating the loss as an unexplained mechanical failure.
