Meaning

The First Response locates its promised disclosure in a last age before the Last Judgment. Its plural speakers claim to publish because God now wills revelation to the worthy, while many seekers misunderstand the offer as a quick distribution of riches. Later the guide's attendance extends until completion, the lion's accession and the end of the world's course. These claims give the response an eschatological horizon; they do not supply a date to calculate. The English keeps the difference between the present 'last age' and the judgment still to begin, and the separate 1661 response should not be folded into the chronology of the 1619 main treatise.
