Meaning

Flight and vanishing describe the danger of the prepared subject escaping its proper confinement. The main text says it can rise away when freely exposed to air, although it is fixed in itself within the work. That qualification prevents fixed and volatile from becoming simple contradictory labels attached without context. The later sealing passage likewise treats flying away as a loss to be prevented, not as a desirable ascent or proof of completion. The English “within the work” clarifies the situational contrast in the earlier statement. These descriptions identify a historical concern about retention; they do not establish the modern composition of the material or authorize testing an unknown vapour.
