The farewell binds disclosure to conscience. In Conclusion · unit 12 the anonymous writer says that he has given reminder and warning and has explained as faithfully, clearly and openly as a good conscience permits. This is not a claim that nothing remains concealed. He also qualifies the reader's understanding by God's withholding of eyes and ears, then doubts whether other instruction will help someone who cannot learn from this account. The English renders the Latin farewell as ordinary leave-taking, while preserving the moral limit on openness. The passage closes an authorial address, not a new technical revelation or a universal guarantee of comprehensibility.
