Meaning

The soluir schalen is the dish in which the text says the unequal participants are brought together. Its compound name identifies its function through dissolving; it is not the same label as the round glass vessel described later in the unit. The English ‘dissolving dish’ preserves that practical distinction.

The passage moves between a container, the condition called a dry liquor or amalgam, and a subsequent conjunction-image. A reader should not treat all three as names of one object. The historical word provides no precise modern vessel specification or proof that an ordinary dish would be suitable or safe for the operation being claimed.
