Meaning
Earth is at once an element, the lower region receiving heavenly influence, and the interior place where Nature forms minerals. 'Centre' specifies the inward reach of that influence; it is not a geographical address at which the reader is promised a physical treasure. The forge, belly and maternal titles are different explanatory images for the same broad domain, not interchangeable literal descriptions of a subterranean workshop.
The companion texts use this domain polemically. What Nature does within the earth is contrasted with the artificer's furnaces and mixtures. Their shared appeal to earth does not prove agreement about the life, nourishment or seed of metals. The dialogue expressly restricts metals to being, while other companion formulations speak more freely of growth.
Use in the book
Nature's opening speech in Nature’s Demonstration to the Erring Alchemist · unit 1 directs the erring practitioner away from smoky, destructive work toward her forge in the earth's interior. The next unit explains the belly of the earth as the site of elemental mixture and first composition. Yet the same speech denies that metals possess life, nourishment for growth or a generative seed by which they reproduce their like. The language of a growing grain earlier in that unit must therefore be read with, not instead of, the later qualification.
Nature’s Demonstration to the Erring Alchemist · unit 4 locates earth within a cosmological ordering. The spheres impart influence through the elements, and their different motions produce different impressions and generations in ores. Their virtues penetrate as far as the centre. Earth is surrounded by the heavens and receives their influence, rather than functioning as an independent power opposed to them.
In Nature’s Demonstration to the Erring Alchemist · unit 6 earth is dense and dark but fruitful, possessing the least share of the fifth being in the stated elemental hierarchy. It is called a mother and nourisher. Those titles express receptivity and production in Nature's comprehensive account; they do not override the distinctions among metals, plants and animals already made in her dialogue.
The Via's Way of Truth · unit 22 gives a different pedagogical emphasis. Because disclosure by living teachers is restricted, the reader should observe Nature's seasonal and daily circulation and consider how she brings things to fruition. Her matter in the earth's hollows becomes a model for appropriate human work. This is a counsel to learn from Nature, not evidence that the Via's growth vocabulary merely repeats the dialogue's denial of metallic nourishment.

Translation
The aligned English distinguishes 'interior', 'belly', 'centre' and 'hollows'. Particularly, the Via's historical expression for earth's hollows should not be converted into theological hells on the basis of a modern-looking spelling. The translation also preserves Nature's explicit denial of life and generative nourishment to metals, a consequential restriction beside the much broader maternal language of earth.
