The forme ronde is called the sole complete and unfailing form appropriate to eternal things. It enters the discussion of the primordial compound and the world’s constitution, not a claim that every round object is immortal. The argument also says that created generative matter was not wholly pure: an unchanging simplicity alone would not furnish the world of differentiated, acted-upon things. Roundness and primordial mixture thus answer different questions, completeness of form and the conditions of generated change. Neither should erase the distinction between pure substance in itself and the dregs accompanying its created condition.
