Meaning

μορφή names Demeter’s many flowering manifestations, the marine beings’ animal-shaped appearances, and the dark serpent form assumed by Korybas. Meilinoe at LXXI.7 displays the stamp of her μορφή in strange ἰδέαι. That crowded phrase distinguishes shape, manifestation, and stamp; it should not be flattened into a precise anatomy of two bodies that the line does not describe.
