English renderings
To mix; to mingle

Meaning

Apollo mixes winter and summer equally at XXXIV.21, a balancing of contrasting seasons. At LXXI.4 ἐμίγη concerns sexual union in the difficult Meilinoe narrative. Although that aorist has passive morphology, it can express intransitive mingling; the larger uncertainty about deception and the named participants cannot be settled by translating it as a modern passive.
