Meadow

Meaning

Plouton’s Tartarean meadow is deep-shadowed and light-forsaken at XVIII.2. Later in the hymn Persephone is torn from a meadow at XVIII.13. The repeated noun does not require the two places to be identical: one locates the god’s dwelling, the other supplies the place from which the bride is taken.
