English renderings
world-ruler

Meaning

Ouranos, Helios, and Pan are each called world-ruler in their own invocations. The compound expresses comprehensive authority in the local praise, not a rule that only one named god can receive it. In IV.3 the apparatus reports “world, father” against the adopted compound, and quotes a nominative-looking label where the verse has a vocative; both distinctions should remain visible.
