English renderings
call upon; invoke

Meaning

The first-person κικλήσκω performs an invocation of many different recipients, sometimes followed by the action requested of them: the Nereids should send prosperity, the Titans remove anger, the Eumenides draw near. At VI.8 it instead helps name Protogonos as Phanes in connection with his light. As with καλέω, calling can summon a presence or supply a designation; the construction decides.
