winter or storm

Meaning

Apollo's musical analogy uses winter as a season, assigned to the hypatai and blended with summer (XXXIV.21–22). Palaimon's χειμῶνος refers instead to an arising storm (LXXV.6). The latter's adopted φαινομένου agrees with the storm, whereas the reported nominative would shift the appearing subject toward the god.
