English renderings
moisture; wetness

Meaning

Ocean is the source of the earth’s spring-flowing moistures at LXXXIII.5. In Boreas’ hymn, damp moisture accompanies rain-born water stirred by the wind. The plural can make moisture concrete as waters or wet exhalations; the immediate water-language is more useful than imposing one physical theory on both scenes.
