Meaning
Apollo blends into a Dorian ordering (XXXIV.18), later related to the seasonable flower of spring (XXXIV.23). The musical designation participates in a comparison of cosmic motion and seasonal difference. A modern Dorian scale should not be substituted without independent historical argument.
