English renderings
Bacchic; belonging to Bacchos

Meaning

At XXX.2 Βακχεῖος qualifies the lord being invoked. At LIII.4 the spelling Βακχήιον appears in a difficult sequence about sleeping and triennial time: the edition attaches “Bacchic” to the time, while an association with the sleeping divine presence remains a contextual possibility. The ending alone cannot decide the whole sentence’s attachment.
