run up; rise

Meaning

At XLVII.5 the bond of all runs upward after the tempest’s whistling and the surrounding Dionysian action. The aorist ἀνέδραμε makes an upward movement explicit. Exactly what the “bond of all” consists in is not fully explained by the line, so the verb should not be made to supply an absent physical or metaphysical mechanism.
