lord; ruler

Meaning

The Kouretes-Korybantes are called ἀνάκτορες at XXXVIII.20, immediately before another form of lordship, ἄνακτες, in the next line. This agent-noun formation deserves its own access point even though “lords” can translate both. The shared status does not erase the distinction between the words.
