Meaning

The yellow-lead paragraph distinguishes the desired yellow preparation from yellow glass said to result if heat or handling is inappropriate. Elsewhere glass names a vessel material, and in Book VI it is an outcome opposed to return of ash to metal. These are distinct senses: apparatus, transformed product and failure of metallic restoration should not be merged simply because the same noun recurs.
