A historical azure material or colour, not necessarily lapis lazuli. Book V associates it with mortified silver but qualifies the desired result as lazurium or something similar. Book VI lists lazurium among materials allegedly restored into Mercury. The two contexts should be preserved rather than harmonized into a modern identity; the source’s broad classification is part of the evidence, not a chemical proof.
