The separation definition includes releasing things bound together that are naturally opposed and continually resist one another until they destroy each other. This gives separation a protective or resolving purpose, not only an analytical one. The participles of binding and the verbs of opposition identify the relationship between constituents, rather than saying that mixture itself is always harmful.
