Meaning

The plant group includes herbs or plants, roots, apples and similar fruits, all said to live by liquor of earth. In the mortification catalogue their oils, water, expressed liquid and alkali are distinguished. The list is neither exclusively leaves nor exclusively edible fruit: its purpose is to gather terrestrial growing materials whose life-bearing liquids can be separated.
