Equal portions

Meaning

The compact workshop quantity expression signifies equal portions, as the edition explains in note 40. It occurs with paired or grouped materials, so its scope is determined by the particular list. The word does not itself state an absolute amount or authorize conversion into a modern unit. Retaining it in lookup makes a small but consequential procedural qualifier visible to readers.
